First off I'd just like to say hello, new to the site, and love what I've read so far. As someone who is looking at getting into the sport, this site offers a wealth of knowledge to which I am very greatful. None of my friends or family ride, so this site is helping tons with the questions I have except for a few...
Before I get too excited about getting a bike, I'd like to know a few more details on insurance. I've done a search, which has helped, but still would like to clear some things up.
Here's what I DO know:
- cost is based on engine size and the value of the bike.
But here's where it gets hazy...
- The discount you have for driving your car, is the discount you'll have for riding a bike, correct? As well, you have collision to think about, comp and all that I'm sure.
Unfortunately I'm in the surcharge area as far as insurance goes, so I'm wondering if insuring a bike just isn't worth it. I'd love to get riding, but not if I'm going to be stuck living under a bridge or something! I know I could phone an agent and sort this out, but I still have no idea what type of bike I'll be getting, so I thought this would be by best first option.
Any tips/advice would be great
