This is a 1983 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim. It has 50K kms on the odometer. She's not pretty, but she runs good. The seating position is upright and very comfortable.
Reasons why it's great for a newbie:
Comfortable seating position
No fairing to damage in a crash
Shaft drive == no chain maintenance, no worries about accidental wheelies, very smooth power delivery
I bought this bike last March for my first bike, and I'm only selling because I bought a newer bike to replace it. I ride everywhere year round because I don't have a car. The only time she's let me down turned out to be a crummy battery which has been replaced.
$1500 OBO - don't be shy about making an offer.
Note: These pics were taken when I bought the bike last March, which is why the odometer reads lower than I posted. Also, the seat is more cracked now (though you can see the beginnings in those pictures on the pillion seat). The links are higher resolution images.
