Hey everyone, I just discovered as I was pulling off a piece of my fairings that my gas tank has a couple of small holes near the bottom that had been syliconed by the previous owner.
The sylicone coming off was actually a result of me pulling the fairing which snagged on the small bit of sylicone and yanked it off, shocking me with a good rush of gas. (just filled the tank too)
Anyway, I syphoned the tank and it's mostly empty now. There may still be some fuel down in the bottom section but it has stopped leaking and I couldn't reach any more fuel with my hose.
If I manage to drain all pools of fuel left inside, and leave it outside with the cap off for a few days will that remove all fumes and remaining fuel so that it's safe to be spot welded?
Any words of knowledge are appreciated
