bike not holding a charge
just wondering if anyone had a problem with there bike not holding a charge
i took my bike out this morning the battery was fully charged and bike started up just fine but after i took it around the block the bike shut right off and would not start up again and the battery was dead. does anyone know or had this problem before. thanks
Several times. I usually drop it off at a local shop, they charge it over night, test it and I come in the next day and buy a new one. I've got mine on a trickle charger now and I'm sure to have the same problem again. I gotta stop buying cheap batteries!
Has your bike been sitting around unused for the last six months or so? If so then your battery is probably shot. That's why people use battery tenders, so that they don't have to buy a new battery every year. Either that or your charging system is not working.
check your reg/rectifier too
thanks for the tips and advise ya the bike battery been sitting around for atlease over 6 months, for the reg/rectifier it's new so i dont think i have a problem with that. i just started the bike up and took it around the block it felt fine never shut down on me until i got back into my garage, turned it off and tried to turn the bike back on it wouldnt start up cause it lost it charge.
guess i need a new battery and i hope thats all i need.
Does your chain hang low?
That and a Cdn Tire trickle charger for the next time you park the bike long term. This one is listed at $50 but they put it on sale several times a year. I think I paid $29. My bike started up this spring on the 2.5th engine revolution and it was like it was never parked.

I'll bet it's a similar situation at the motorcycle shops right now.
