Yup. Its true. (to whoever recognizes me) lol
On to the story, I am a noob. My experience and credidentials(sp?) are as follows:
2 hours spent on mini bike
15 minutes on a dirt bike
I enjoy driving fast cars(2 M3's in the last couple years), and am interested in competing on the track(ofcourse not for atleast a couple years on the bike)
Anyhow, I was leaning towards getting a '93 - '96 Ninja ZX6. They were affordable, and from what I knew fairly reasonable to start on if you rode within your limits? Was also looking at early to mid 90's CBR's.
I am now leaning towards a late 80's early 90's 250cc bike or a fairly new(95-02) dualsport. This is my order of choices, any comments please?
1989 YAMAHA 250cc with 7k km's on it. This bike is sexy and still only 250cc. Best of both worlds hopefully? $3000 obo.(or is this one of those oldschool bikes with a big KICK? A highly capable bike..? Or is it ideal for me?
2002 KTM SX 250cc
Rad valve, fatty pipe, titanium 2 silencer, acerbis handguards, skid plate $4200 obo.
1993 ZX6. 26k km, $3400 firm
2002 KTM EXC 400 Street Legal
Bike is in excellent condition, electric start, 25L tank (gas in shrouds style) $35.00/month insurance. Asking $6500 obo. This bike is in Super Motard form? Its got s/m wheels and a 320mm brake and 14/42 gear ratio. Only setback is the price at this point. A bit more than I want to spend.
Any thoughts appreciated. I intend to:
- splurge on gear
- get a reasonable bike ($2,000 - $5,000) 1990 - 1999 to save on insurance.
- PRS this year and maybe next year do a couple days at mission with WestCoast Superbike school.
