Howdy all. . As you can probably tell from my join date, I have been kicking around the idea of a sportbike for a while now. It recently came to be that I am the owner of a nissan skyline. However recent changes in Canadian regulations are making it a general pain in the ass to own one. I'm totally comfortable with the car but the police and government are not and all us skyline owners are feeling a bit persecuted..
Anyway, I am wondering now if I should just sell my skyline and get a bike. I figure I could get 6-7 grand quite easily for my car within a few days of putting it up for sale. The bikes I'm looking at these days are 600-1000cc bikes. Yeah lots to handle I know. But the Ninja 500's just don't cut it for me.
I don't really use my car for packing much stuff around. I have some kendo armor that is a bit bulky but I bet I could get it all onto a bike somehow. The main thing would be weather, what's it like to ride around all year, rain or shine? I see people doing it on scooters. . .
My experience with motorbikes is mostly dirtbikes up to the 700-800cc range, but I did ride some of my friends' twitchy road bikes earlier on in my youth. For the record I'm 21 now, and I'm not really afraid of twitchy "dangerous" cars or bikes. I have a very conservative style of driving and riding, except on loooooong flat pieces of empty road . What's the use of going fast all the time, you know you're already faster than 90% of the people on the road if you need to be, no need to prove it.
What do you guys think? Am I dumb for considering this or ??? What would you suggest?
I am also keeping in mind a move to Japan in the near future (Within the year most likely.) The bike will be coming with me, if I get one. If I keep my car, it will definitely be staying here.
