A friend of mine has a 95 gixxer that's been sitting under his porch for the last 2-3 years. Its missing the carburetor (got it fixed and then didn't have the money to pay for it, so the fixer kept it) and he says that its all that he needs, but he's not the most knowledgeable person about bikes. But he's willing to sell for ridiculously cheap to me. Mileage is pretty decent, have to check to get exact number.
I'm thinking it will be good for a second bike, commuting, etc.
First thing, any known problems on these oil cooled bikes? (like rectifiers go on gen I mr2's every 15K miles or so)
Something that's sit so long, what else will it need? For sure it will need:
Tires (flat spots)
Fuel lines cleaned
All fluids changed
Third, would it make a good track bike? I've never heard of people doing this (its one porky pig) and oil cooled bikes heat up faster but with the muzzzy cooling fan retrofit it doesn't have such a cooling problem.
Any input would be MOST EXCELLENT!
PS This isn't a picture of the bike itself. I wish it was though!
