Well, I read the forum post about new Sportbike Riders and such. ( http://www.bcsportbikes.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=45571 ). And I, like probably 1000s of people on the forums want to ask for some advice which i will take in with the utmost consideration.
First of all some background information.
I am 6'1 and a pretty big guy. I am also a die hard motorcycle fan (as much as someone with my riding experience can be). I have been riding for 1 season on a 87 Kawasaki 650 (standard/cruiser) (still has tons of kick to it). I am hoping by the end of August of 2007 I will be purchasing a sportsbike of my own. I had my sights set on a CBR600RR, but after reading that article I am becoming unsure. I was told by many-a-sportbikers that an older (2002 or around that) CBR600F4i would be a good beginner sportbike-- something that wont kill me and that will stay up to par with some of the newer bikes. I am wondering if this is a good choice to get a 2002 F4i or around that year. To be honest I love Honda-- I just love their bikes, basically what they stand for.. the bikes have character, just sitting on one in at the dealer just makes me want to take the keys and rev her up. Im just confused on what to do, since i really love Honda but other than the F4i, they seem to not make in-between bikes, they don't even make a 250 i believe. I would consider myself very capable of handling my Kawi, and I am a responsible driver but I figured i would ask you guys as well. Now for my friend...
He has never been on a street legal motorcycle, he road dirtbikes as a kid but I doubt that will serve him much when jumping on a sport bike. He was thinking of a Suzuki GS500, which i believe in the article was considered a decent starter bike. Would the year (say a 2006 or 2007 vs a 2000 model) make a huge difference? Anyways, he was looking for some starter bikes as well.
Anyways, we both wanna have fun and ride safe so we are looking for some serious suggestions that we will consider heavily. Thanks a lot and stay safe everyone.
