I am utterly shaken. In Canada we have around 2,500 deaths due to traffic accidents last YEAR.
In China, they estimate 600 killed. Per DAY. That's 219,000 per year.
Who wants to go on a motorcycle trip in China? Hands up? Anyone? (crickets chirping)...
Ok so China's population is 40 times as large as ours but they have far fewer vehicles per capita (15 per 1000 people vs 577 per 1000 people in Canada).
In fact, unless my math is totally screwed up they have around the same number of motor vehicles and 40x as many crunchy/squishy people riding on bicycles and walking around. Yech.
