TERRACE - A massive mudslide has closed a highway in northwest B.C.
The RCMP say the slide on Highway 16 east of Terrace is 66 metres wide
and could be up to 10 metres thick.
The slide is blocking both lanes of traffic.
There are no reports of any injuries.
The Transportation Ministry is sending geotechnical engineers to assess
the situation, and also to take a look at the Cranberry Connector, a
forestry road in the Nass Valley which is the only alternate road
between Terrace and points east.
