80 cent CDN dollar by 2010, is it possible?
I don't pretend to be an economist but it would be damn nice if our currency was actually worth a reasonable amount given the amount of consumer products that need to be imported in this country, in many situations a 27% increase in buying power would be realized! I'm sure they'll be downsides though whatever the case its good to see that there's still men of vision in Ottawa.

Actually the Canuck dollar is intentionally deflated against the US buck for good reasons. The trick is to stop slides. It must be varianced against trade surpluses and deficits in key areas as markets sway. Economics is one of the most intricate sciences out there.
Yeah, I'll suspect mostly as a crutch for otherwise uncompetitive industries, thats why Alan Rock stated the goal would have to be tackled from that end of it. As is the CND dollar is thought to be badly undervalued by many and one bad slide away from being exchanged for something more stable.
