i doubt you caught my "introduction" thread, so i'll throw in a quick re-cap:
I just got my full motorcycle licence here in ontario, and have 2 full seasons under my belt (~10K kms). started out on a '77 honda, and rode a GS500F last year (what a great bike, learned so much). I'd like to think i'm a decent rider, but super sports still scare the shit out of me.
i realize this is a sportbike forum, but given the supermotard section, i figure someone might be able to answer some questions for me.
so, in about a month, i'll be living in the peace canyon area (fort st john - ish). I love motorcycling, and would really like either an sv or a kawi klr. but i miss riding already. (someone once told me patience comes with age, so i'm still trying to grow into that patient phase of life).
what's the trail riding situation like? i've read a bit about the popularity of quadding in the area. would anyone recommend picking up a dirt bike? i'm not too afraid of tinkering with a bike (i almost rebuilt my honda, but ran out of time), but prefer riding over wrenching.
assuming i have most of the gear i need, what would be your recommendation for a bike for that region? i honestly don't know if i should try and get something in the 250-350 cc range, look for something like a DRZ400 (since it can actually go on the highway - right?) or saving up for a klr or something. i also have a short inseam, so am a little intimidated by the hieght and top-heaviness of something like a KLR.
I know if i were going to a place like vancouver, i'd just get an SV as soon as i found a decent one. but i've never lived in an area as rural as the peace river country, so i'm sort of looking for advice from anyone who'd ridden around there.
