I was driving my cage home over the Lions Gate bridge today behind some riders that truly scared the beJesus out of me.
4 squids - no gear / track suits / muscle shirts / shorts on R1's and GSXR's (but with spine protectors - WTF?). One with a girlfriend on the back wearing a yoga outfit.
All of them laying up for the bend on the south end of the Stanley Park causeway like they were entering turn 2 at Laguna but doing 50kph stuck behind a Toyota. Then squid in the lead almost doesn't notice that the center lane is blocked off to northbound traffic and panics at the last minute to get in to the correct lane before hitting an orange barrel.
Then it was sudden braking the entire way up the causeway causing a snarl behind them. I think it may have been misattempts at popping wheelies. The rear rider looking so unsure about what he was doing that I was genuinely worried I'd be picking pieces of him out of my grill later this evening.
Once over the bridge and approaching the turn offs to North and West Van on the far north side, the rider in the lead enters the center lane about 200 meters before it's safe, putting himself in oncoming traffic and narrowly missing an oncoming Land Rover.
I'm absolutely positive that there wasn't a class 6 between the four of them.
It was so painful to watch. All that money poured in to brand new R1's and other 2 wheeled finery but ya can't afford a few hundred bucks on some gear and some riding lessons.
Oh well... more organs and used bike parts for the rest of us.
