Just got back from a solo ride Richmond-Peace Arch-Lynden-Nooksack-Deming-Baker-Sumas-Peace Arch-home (about 300km). On the coolish side (which I prefer in any case) but very, very pleasant.
I saw very few sportbikes on the ride. Saw a CBR on the last stretch to Baker, turned around, caught up with him but he was apparently in less of a hurry than I was (I had to be back for a lunch appointment at home) so I went off ahead. On the Baker road on the way back saw two naked bikes but I was concentrating on the corner so I could not see exactly what they were.
Most exciting moment? Two deer on the side of the road just after I passed the CBR, piled on the brakes and, as expected, one of them ran into the road in front of me. Closest approach: about 3m @ 20km/h closing speed.
Filling up with gas at Blaine I (figuratively!) ran into a gentleman on an FJR doing the USA "four corners": started off in Ohio. Blaine is his first "corner" and he is now heading south to California. Then east & back north: quite the ride!
Update: Just looked at the following website http://www.usa4corners.org/main.htm: pretty much 13,000km to be done in 21 days! I don't mind long rides, but I don't quite think my GSX-R is meant for something like that! My wife has just categorically refused to do this on the back of our bike: just about the first time she has ever chickened out on a ride!
Life is good.
