I picked up my brand new 2006 Yamaha FZ6 today from Pacific Yamaha.
It was a little bit of a stretch going from my XT225 to the FZ6 and I'm sure the sales guy is wondering if I made it home in one piece. I've seen so many videos of people taking delivery of new bikes and crashing on the first turn out of the dealership, that I took it VERY easy out of the parking lot.
What a terrific bike! The transmission's a bit "clunky" (that was a surprise, but I've heard that's "how Yamaha's are"), but after I pulled over to the side of the road and took most of the slack out of the clutch cable and throttle cable, it shifted MUCH better.
What a pleasure riding the FZ6 on Highway 99 after almost being blown into the weeds a dozen times on my XT225 on the way to the dealership. It's rock solid and smooth as silk. There's a bit of high-frequency buzzing through the footpegs, tank and grips, but I'm sure that'll disappear once I gather the courage to take it over 2,000 RPM and second gear... (j/k)
Very pleased...oh...I got the red one.
Man, it was HOT today.
