I see there seems to be a common thread pattern here ranting about guys riding like morans in traffic. Well I'm about to add to that myself, the only reason it pisses me off so much is because I always give LOTS of room for bikes in front of me when I'm in my truck or any vehicle and being a rider myself and knowing how many RIP threads are posted and hearing about the kid on 200th street in Langley a couple weeks ago whos girlfriend is watching him in all his suffering right now case some jackass made a left in front of him (I work with the girlfriends dad) The kid was knocked out of his work boots, broken pelvis, vertebra (3 I think) in his back, something screwed in his neck and his skull was damaged when the first impact threw off his helmet and hit a post with it after the initial impact. Anyways....
There are 2 sport riders on the #1 riding together everyday at about 6:30am you take the FIRST ave exit. (Both have backpacks...not sure about the sportbike models) For the most part you 2 are always riding pretty responsible in the traffic (HOV) bla bla, what happened this am? Another guy comes along and it looks like your trying to keep up? Right where the lanes on the freeway go from 3 lanes to 2 then around the bend to the First ave exit, buddy #1 lanes splits on the left, your buddy #2 goes on the shoulder and passes on the right (on the shoulder) and you get stuck in behind a cube van. I'm like 3 feet behind you in the left lanes and moving in, (your now at the end of the center lane thats now the right lane) but seeing whats going on I take my foot off the gas and you just go fu*#ing darting out into my lane without checking! Then check when your half way in!!! Your lucky I had the insight to see what was going on, a few more feet and you would have sideswiped my truck and been down and then what?
Buddy there is a time to let loose but morning traffic is not it. Please watch yourself, don't feel pressured to catch up to your buddy immediately after you lose him, there is lots of time its not worth the risk you took this am. Everyone makes mistakes but this one almost cost you.
