I've dealt with chronic back pain for a number of years now but a few months ago , it got really bad. After many a visit to my doctor, a ct scan and an mri, I now know what is wrong. I have a previously undiagnosed case of scoliosis, a bulging disc AND lower lumbar arthritis. I was ordered (by my doctor) to quit my job building cranes (which I really enjoyed), and I was told I should never ride again. This news came right after I built a yz250 supermoto and got involved with UNITED RPM. Of course I left my job because I just couldn't do it any more and I went on medical leave. EI, in their infinite wisdom only granted me 6 weeks medical leave with a two week waiting period so I was basically screwed for money and in fear of starting to miss my mortgage payments. The inevitable, all non-essentials had to go (read bikes). I sold all my bike and bike related stuff and we lived off that money while I felt sorry for myself.
Fast forward to today. I got off my ass and started my own company which now employs my 14 year old son for the summer. The business is doing well, it is low impact and low stress. Physio has helped a lot and pain management is attainable. I said fuck it to my doctor's orders (shh don't tell him) and went to Bill's yesterday and bought the last Husky SM450R. I rode it at the Quay today (to break in the motor of course) and I'm home now and feeling very little pain. It was a great day. So a few months later, I have a good business, I have a great bike, I spend tonnes of time with my son and life has gone on without too much of a hiccup. The moral of my story is that even though shitty things happen, sometimes they work out for the best. I know this was a long self-indulgent post, but with all the miserable posts on here lately, I figured I'd share my happy ending. Thanks again Bill for a wicked bike!
