    R1 in MotoGP

WCM and Harris will campaign the 2003 Motogp with a sorta R1 hot-rod.

As a starting point for the engine WCM will employ much modified R1 components. More than anything this is necessary to fit in with the time constraints. The engine cases and cylinder head will be WCM designed items in keeping with the FIM regulations for MotoGP.

You won't be able to see the R1 parts on this machine.

They are developing a MotoGP bike in very little time so they may use the R1 transmission ( modified of course) and valve train and or head but MotoGP regulations follow a prototype formula so production frames and engine cases are disallowed.

This collaberation has great potential for a non-factory effort. Harris are chassis gurus( remember KR's factory Yamaha team actually used Harris frames on their 500s for a time) and World Championship Motorsports is very successful.

However, thoses R1 components that are saving them time in development now will surely be developed right out of the picture when the team has time to build their own parts.
