What are your thoughts about any aspect of the Pickton trial?
My immediate thoughts are concern the Crown trying to bite off more than they can chew. This is going to be a very expensive trial that we are all paying for and IMO Crown could proceed with much more caution. I think the investigation is in the millions of dollars already.
Charging and trying William Pickton for 15 counts of murder in one trial is gonna be a gong show. Could you imagine being a sequestered juror for the length of the trial?
If the Crown were wise, they would try him for only a few murders where they have the strongest evidence. This would simplify and reduce trial time and costs. If they acquit, at least Crown would have other charges to fall back on.
There seems to be alot of pressure from the public to find the guilty party, perhaps that's why they are gonna try all at once.
Or maybe I am missing something?
My skeptisism comes from evidence the prosecuters have to deal with. The charges are for First Degree Murder and I don't think there will be any eyewitness. For first degree murder Crown must prove that Pickton had intended and physically commited the murders of all 15 women. And judging from what the media has told us, I don't think any competent witness will be available.
