I am new to bikes - I did do a search of the forums and found some answers, I just am looking for clarification.
I got a new (used bike - 2005) a few weeks ago and the first day I had it it started fine.
It has been sitting in my basement around 1 1/2 weeks and I had not started it up since the first day, however for sh*ts and giggles, I have been turning the ignition to the start position to see the lights and speedometer flash/light up,but not actually started the bike up. I probably did this once a day for a week.
Anyway, I tried starting yesterday and bike would not start, initially everything light up as normal, but when I pushed the starter, all lights faded almost immediately. Then second attempts, the lights don't come on. If I let the bike sit for 10 to 15 minutes, the lights will flash up, but bike won't start.
I took the battery into a shop and they said it had no power, and it is currently being charged.
My questions are does this sound just like a dead battery issue and is it normal for the battery to drain that quickly from me doing what I was doing?
Also, being a bike owner now - do most owners have their own charger and an occasional recharge is required if the bike sits a week or so without being run?
Thanks in advance!
