I've just received this form CSS (Keith Code)
Incase you dont know Misti Hurst is a local BC girl who worked damn hard to race.
"Earlier this season, Kawasaki and the California Superbike School reached an agreement with long time CSS coach Misti Hurst to campaign several AMA Supersport and Formula Extreme races on sponsored Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R's. "Misti is a very talented rider, a real competitor and competent in every area of her life that I know of." Explains Keith Code "We are very excited and pleased to see her take her racing efforts to the AMA this season and are behind her 100%." This is Misti's 4th season racing and her first in the AMA series. She began racing on an SV 650 in 2002 and 2003, and then raced a CBR 600RR in the Canadian Amateur Nationals in 2006 after spending 2 full years coaching with the Superbike School.
"The California Superbike School has been instrumental in teaching me all the necessary skills I have needed to reach such a high level of racing." Explains Misti "I'm used to riding the Kawasaki's at the school so to be given the opportunity by both Kawasaki and CSS to race two ZX6R's in the AMA is just amazing. I feel comfortable on the bikes and can therefore focus my energy on continuously improving my riding via the school curriculum. It's so much fun!" On May 18, 2007, Misti participated in her first ever AMA event at Infineon Raceway, in Sonoma California and surprised many by qualifying for the extremely competitive 600 Supersport grid.
"I was nervous about qualifying," she explained "but I went out and gave it everything I had. I rode faster than I have ever ridden! I could sort of coach myself as I went along because I could recognize the mistakes I was making and I knew what techniques needed to be done to make up time."
She qualified 44th on the grid with a time of 1:46.2, beating out nearly a dozen other racers for the final qualifying spot, well within the 110% qualifying time cut off. She finished the race in 39th place with a 1:45.7 and was the only female competitor.
Misti has since participated in the AMA events at Miller Motorsports Park (just missing out of qualifying for Supersport) and Mid Ohio and VIR, (where she qualified for both the Formula Extreme and Supersport classes). During the races at Mid Ohio her fastest lap time was 29th fastest out of over 40 competitors and at the recent Supersport event at VIR she placed an impressive 29th place, earning her first AMA points for the season. She will race the final AMA events at Laguna Seca, September 15th-16th and will continue to travel with the Superbike School working as a coach at over 70 of the school dates this year. Misti says, "Take the challenge. Come on out to one of the schools so I can coach you on the techniques that I have learnt!"
