It will be the first time MotoGP has been to this track - it is being reviewed as small, tight, and was experiencing torrential downpours of rain that flooded the pits and canceled all practice...
The Misano track is apparently 'just down the road' from Rossi's home town of Tavullia. There is supposed to be a pilgrimage of people (possibly a few thousand?) walking to Misano for the race for obvious support of their local boy.
They are also running the track 'backwards' (clockwise) for the world championship races. More of a level playing field this way I suppose. Racers that had any previous experience on that track will not be able to use the known good lines. I can see the whiners inhaling now ready to say "Rossi grew up on that track - he's got a huge advantage over everyone, blah, blah"... nope, it's basically brand new to everyone. A new, small, tight track + MotoGP talent & big HP will = really good racing.
Stoner is focused like a laser beam, but will the weather improve? Melandri was really fast in the wet during practice. There are better wet weather riders than Stoner, so we'll have to see what happens on race day.
