(Correct forum hopefully?)
I've been thinking about this for awhile, and though that I would post up a message to see what kind of response I may get.
Basically, I have a 1991 Yamaha Superjet (stand-up style personal watercraft) that I originally bought in 1993. I bought it from the original owner that was going back to school and wanted to sell it. I used to be involved with watercraft racing back in the mid-90's and had a ton of fun with this boat. It has been modified with many upgrades for racing/performance/surf riding, and runs and performs very well.
Anyhow, I rarely use it anymore, and have been more interested in motorcycles in the last few years. I am looking for a track-bike that I can get started at Mission with – I’m not 100% sure exactly what make/model that I am after, but I would certainly consider a Yamaha first (I have a soft spot for the tuning fork) but ultimately I don’t think it really matters all that much.
I took a bunch of pics of the superjet, but I forgot to bring my phone cord with me to D/L the pics – I will post some pics up when I get home.
Many years ago I upgraded the 650CC engine to a (completely new longblock from Yamaha - a crate motor) 701CC that has just been overbored once (.010" oversize). I just recently finished putting it back together over the summer, it has less than 1/2 a tank of fuel put through it - it needs about 2 tanks of fuel through it to complete the break-in. Brand new pistons, rings, gaskets, crank seals, pin bearings, etc. It has the usual upgraded parts that you would expect on this type of boat: Skat-trak (17-19 progressive) Stainless steel impeller, R&D ride plate, U.M.I. billet steering kit, Aluminum handlepole, upgraded dual 44 Mikunis with R&D intake manifold, Bullit Performance cylinder head with replaceable domes (2 sets) Factory Pipe exhaust kit with an 'A' body chamber, an Odyssey gel battery, Hydro turf mats, Surf snorkels, blah, blah blah... the list goes on, I can't even remember all of the parts and money that I have sunk into this thing over the years...
I have sunk well over $10,0000 into this boat over the time that I have owned it – I’ve had it so long it almost seems like part of the family. Realistically, it is worth about $3000-$3500 and the average track bike set-up that I’ve seen are going to be in a similar price range. Just looking to change some of my hobbies without having to clean out the bank account and start from scratch.
Anyone interested? Drop me a PM anytime.
