Okay so i...purchased...some video files online, and they came to me in "matroska" filetype. this is a ".mkv" file. I've looked into it a bit and apparently it's somewhat like an avi container type file. Further research indicates that this filetype should be able to be played by VLC media player, which I DO possess and use. However, it freezes about five seconds into any of the files. Audio continues, but video stops.
Further research indicated that I could convert these to AVI files. I downloaded a program called "mokgvm2dvd", which is supposedly able to do this conversion, but on my first attempt i got a 0kb file, then on the second attempt i got a file with sound but no video at all.
Any help here?
PS, I'm on a mac powerbook with 1.67 Mhz processor and 2 gigs of Ram...should be plenty.
