    Real or scam?

I'm looking at getting my first bike, I know neither of these would make a good first bike, however I am curious why these two bikes are priced so low... do you guys think this could be a scam or something?

This one is probably a type-o (missed a zero) but I thought I'd throw it up anyways.

If it looks too good to be true .... Try asking for a VIN.

I'm just here for the intelligent conversation.
Why bother even checking the VIN? If you even had to think about whether or not those ads are scams you really should invest in one of these tests: http://www.iqtest.com

You'll probably score low enough that you could qualify for special funding or something through the mental health department. Win-Win!

All of the links say the ads have been taken off. That explains.

For future reference...if the price looks like a bargain, but not "Nigerian scammer" cheap, take a look at the last couple digits and save yourself some time. Prices like $2950, $2980, $2880, $2850 are ALL fake. The ad will look legit; no big typo's, pictures not matching the bike, etc. But it WILL be a scam, just a much more subtle one.

The ads are usually ripoffs of legit ones, description, pictures and all. The price will be low for the bike, but believable. You'll get a response like this:

    Hello,
I'm glad that you're interested in my 2002 Yamaha R1. It comes with all the documents needed for registration, it has a clear title and it can be registred into your name at any time. I am willing to sell it for $2900 This buy now price does include the shipping and insurance fees.
I'm located in New Leipzig ND and the bike is here as well and so this is where the bike will be shipped from. I've done some research and the best and fastest way I can ship it is using Hemisphere cargo Shipping Ltd which takes between 4 to 6 days to arrive at your door (door to door handling and shipping insurance fee included).
I am affiliated with Yahoo! Finance where I have a purchase protection account for $ 4,000.00. This service allows us to complete this transaction in a manner that is quick and safe for both of us. It acts as a third party between seller and buyer to insure that both parties comply to transaction requirements and provides dispute resolution and mediation between parties. Yahoo! Finance is responsible to insure that both parties comply to transaction requirements.
If this is ok with you please reply with your complete name, address and shipping address in your next email and let me know if you are interested in knowing more details about this purchase so that I can open a transaction case at Yahoo! Finance and move forward with this deal.
    Thank you,
    Richard Smith
Send me your phone number, I'll give you a call after we will set up all the details
    or this...

    Hi,
the bike is still available, it's in great condition, it has been properly maintained, never been dropped or abused in any way. It has clear title and the price I'm selling it for is $2980, which is including all the shipping charges.
I live in Seattle but currently I am with work in UK, London for the next approximately 7 months. Anyway, there shouldn`t be any problem, because I`m using MoneyBookers services so I can sell the bike without difficulty.
I left the bike at their warehouse before leaving to the UK. They will take care of the delivery. There`s a 14-day return policy so you will have the chance to test, inspect and ride it before final decision.
So if you want to purchase it, drop me a line and I will explain you how MoneyBookers works and how we can move forward.
    I am waiting your email.
    Thanks
