After a long hiatus, I finally rode my VFR this evening. It was cold out, but I'd just had some heated grips installed (along with a nice new shock). The bike actually handles now, but the biggest improvement was the grips. These things get *HOT*. More heat than the factory heated grips on the Beemer I used to own. The kit was $110 when I bought it a fcouple of years ago.
I'm happy so far, and the there is a good (if rather large) rheostat-type controller to vary the amount of heat. Heated grips are an awesome alternative to bulky insulated gloves. That little bit of heat at the hands can make the difference between finishing your ride and stopping to add another layer. Can't believe I waited so long to get the damn things installed.
BTW, the work I had done was done by Rich Powley here in Chilliwack (some of you may know him from the track). He's opening a shop here fairly soon, so us valley folk will finally have access to a quality independent shop.
