So, my first day of riding yesterday. Had nothing but a freakin blast - even wiping out was fun. My feature wipeout - out of the whole TWO was probably when I did a hill climb in front of the crew, and upon turning around at the top to come down, roosted my back wheel, causing it to slide out sideways from underneath me and I simply laid the bike down as opposed to tumbling with it down the hill. Yeah I know, LAME - I stood at the top of the hill, just below the lip, straddling my bike, and called for one of the boys to come help me slide it down/upright it lol. One of them rode up, stood it up for me, and I could barely stand on the hill it was so steep (for me) and he looked at me and said 'you want me to ride it down and back up doncha'. Being barely able to touch the ground on the flats, I opted for this lol.
Long story short - the second crash of the day entailed an actual crash, as opposed to a gentle laying down of the bike. Tried to straighten myself out for a 'whoopdy do' that I had already done several times, and did it too late. By the time I straightened out the handlebars, I was in the air and before I knew it coming down straight headfirst into a tree. The dismount was tremendous I tell you. Upon shaking if off, standing up and uprighting the bike, I found that I had twisted the stock handlebars. Now I have access to a straightener, but am told that the stock handlebars are soft compared to a high end aftermarket handlebar for under $100. But which ones do I go for?
From the looks, and sounds of it, Renthal seems to be the way to go - but being a complete noob, don't really know what I'm getting into. Any brands/models you could and would suggest?
Thank! - J
