Here is the email that I sent out to the RPM membership regarding the AGM.
If you are not a RPM member and would like to come to the meeting, show up and purchase a 2008 membership for $50 and you will be able to vote and run for a seat on the board if you desire.
Hello RPM membership,
I hope this email finds you all, feel free to pass it on to your neighbor.
Please note that our RPM AGM will be held on December 9th, 2007 at the Gillnetter Pub - 604-941-5599 1864 Argue Street , Port Coquitlam , BC V3C 5K4. I have also included a copy of RPM’s bylaws for everyone’s files.
I have just arrived back from working in Montreal for the past two months. Upon my return I have started going through some of our RPM affairs. According to our bylaws we were scheduled to have an AGM in the month of November. Seeing as we need to give proper notice of the AGM we are planning it as soon as possible allowing the minimum 21 days notice.
Your participation in this meeting will have a dramatic effect on how things will operate for the 2008 season. As a matter of fact, it is critical that we get support and community participation to make the 2008 race season possible. Do not just make the effort to show up, be there or you will not have any racing in 2008.
The Executive Board had a positive meeting last night, Tuesday November 20th. At this point RPM is running deep in the red financially (and not because the Hondas outnumber the Yamahas). There are two major issues that everyone who wants to ride will need to take some responsibility for, and do their part to help out. 1) We need to secure locations for 2008. If you have any connections now is the time to step up. 2) We need money, sponsorship money, big money! Without getting into the entire financial report, which we will do at the AGM, RPM was and is almost $15,000 in the hole. It cost us approximately $40,000 to run that series. So, point blank… IF WE DO NOT RAISE ENOUGH SPONSORSHIP CAPITAL, WE WILL NOT BE RACING IN 2008! Troy, Gio, Holly and myself will not finance this community to race another season. That being said, we are positive that if the community wants to race and steps up to help us help you, there is potential to have an even better race season. We now have the momentum from 2007, and can show the dealers and sponsors that we have a product to invest in, not a bunch of hype.
We will also be nominating a new Executive Board at the AGM. As per our meeting last night, the current executive is willing to run for the same seats once again. RPM is a democracy and everyone needs to be voted into their seats. The membership makes the votes and decides ultimately who takes those seats. Take some time to consider who you would like to be running the show next year, and if you want to put your own name in the hat please do. We will be needing all the help we can get.
The executive positions are as follows; President, Vice President, Treasurer, Coordinator, and Member at Large (up to 5 seats).
The agenda will be:
• 7:30pm call the meeting to order
• Accept nominations for Executive Board
• Presidential Year in review
• Treasurer’s Financial Report
• Q & A regarding Financials
• Banquette Update
• New Business
• Executive Board Vote
• Meeting adjournment
Please remember to bring your membership cards.
Remember, YOU DON’T SHOW, 08 RACES WILL NOT GO!
