So I just sat back down after hanging up the phone on yet another telemarketing call. But this is one of the new school telemarketing deals. The ones where it's an automated voice that talks to you and informs you that your kidney is not in any immediate danger of falling out but if you don't take advantage of our......
It's actually the one that starts out "Hello, this is Card Services with an important message. There is no problem with your account but .....". Now that REALLY burns my buttocks.... It was bad enough when a real person tried to sell you something. But now they not only hide behind an automessage they PUT YOU ON HOLD?! ?! ?! ?!
The last time they called I went so far as to push the button and WAIT 3 OR 4 MINUTES to actually talk to a real person. I then asked them to take me off the calling list and he started to argue about why would I want that and why can't I just listen to the offer. I told him that I quite resent the intrusion of telemarketing on principle and so I would not deal with them anyhow and could they please remove me from the calling list. He went on a rant about how I should stop yelling (I wasn't but I was being firm) and that he would sue me for harrasing him. I just repeat that I'd like to be removed from the list as provided in law (don't know if that's right or not but it seemed like a good play at the moment.) He looses it and starts saying that he's going to make sure I get called at least twice a day. I tell him that this is GREAT customer relations and suggest that he learn to be more professional.
.... no one has to choose to be a telemarketer. I think they do it because they like it.... I don't care how hard up we are in this country for work we do not need telemarketing.
