I've been toying with the supermoto idea for the better part of the last 2 years. It will be my next bike, but i'm trying to figure out the best way to do it. At first i wanted a husky 610, but in the time it has been taking me to save up for a nice new bike I have been thinking. I originally wanted the husky so it was capable of long trips, but no sm is going to do that well, so I'll stick to my van for that. The next natural step was the suzuki dr400sm, cheaper insurance is really the only thing about it htat appeals to me, as well as being on the road.
So the next step in my thinking came to a 2 stroke, fun as shit and cheap insurance, if I can get it on the road, the drawback of this is of course maintenance for me. Another reason the husky appealed to me. I am mechanically inclined, I change my own oil, can do most minor repairs, but with the amount I work I feel heavy regular maintenance schedule is not worth my time, (at least not until i'm married as i've learned from a few people haha) So I am curious, is there a 250 2 stroke that wont keep me in the shop more than on the road? Any suggestions about under 400cc 2 strokes would be great.
Any other suggestions? Theres enough info about legalizing 2 strokes for the street that i'll save that f or when i have a bike in my hand (or am about to buy it and need to figure out what paperwork is necessary)
I'm thinking a year or 2 old just to save some cash. I guess what it comes down to is money and my purpose. I don't honestly see myself coming out and racing, F440 days sound like a blast, but I definitely want to be able to ride there. So money wise, I want it to be not too expensive, or i'll just go for the 610.
