The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think.
As a noob at this stuff, I didn't really have exposure to either one, so I don't have good/bad feelings about it. After reading some of the articles, it's apparent that some techies preferred HD over Blu ray.
My question is, how different are the technologies? What makes one better/worse than the other?
You never really learn to swear until you learn to ride!!
With 3 of the 4 big movie house have signed on for blue-ray it'll be another year and the players will/should be more affordable...
BCSB Member #XXXXThere are old bikers, and there are bold bikers, but there are no old, bold bikers.

Old news. Next!
Ok, this is great and all, but......
Which oil is best for my bike?
Will "regular" DVD's play in a Blu Ray player?
I'm so embarrassed that I have a now-obsolete HD-DVD player....Where's that Best Buy credit card...
Does not matter. As long as Sony is being a bitch about having porn on their disks, HD DVD will not die

The shakedown on this has been really interesting. The industry and watchers had assumed that this was going to be a consumer driven decision (in an oblique sense it was) and that it would take 3 or more years from now to resolve but as soon as the leak in the dam appeared with Toshiba floating they were dropping production of HD-DVD players then the heavy hitting retailers chimed in. Collusion or not we will probably never know for certain. But in the end this outcome is the best of all outcomes for the consumer as the format is now determined so consumer and the film industry can move on.
The whole format war has essentially stalled HD from going anywhere from the consumer to the film producers. Now the decision is made and producers know now what the delivery mechanism is and consumers can buy gear and product in confidence.
Early adopters are the casualty but feel good if this is the first time you have been burned as an early adopter in technology. This shite happens all the time with early adopters. Welcome to the club.
k i just bought an hd lcd.. does this mean i wasted my money? i donno anything about this stuff
Church doors are always open to whoever wants to enter, but they're only open to those who are willing to be sheep. The service of God is really service to those self-proclaimed holy men who hold the franchise. Accumulating material grandeur is the goal, not the improvement of the people's lives. Independent thought is discouraged. Raising the individual up is not part of the plan; keeping the flock docile, distracted, and deluded is what it's all about.
It's all the same when you download it.
I've always been a huge Sony fan, so I'm glad Blu-Ray won. News of HD's death has been common knowledge since the third week of January.
Get more current, loser!
