A tip of the visor to all who organised, worked on and participated in last weekends FVDRA Herrling Island mud-fest! I had a fantastic, exhausting and down right dirty-good-time! It was my first experience at the event and it will be one I attend as long as I can keep at least one nostril out of the muck! 5 hours to sweep one lap of the A course on Saturday! I’d also like to thank the two kids who were in over their heads even more than I. Their getting stuck every 50 feet over the first half of the course allowed me to fake my way through the morass!
By Sunday morning my fingers had stopped cramping enough that I was able to hobble (on foot!) around the C course snapping pictures and a few video clips. I’ll try to figure out how to get them posted so you can catch your 15 seconds of fame but for now I hope you enjoy this one clip. To me, this is was the money shot! The little squirt in the clip who probably can’t even do up his/her own chin-strap displays the true grit and determination of a warrior champion and what this past weekends racing and competition were all about! I predict Mom and Dad will be buying many race bikes over the next decade and we will get to witness the development of a champion! This kid keeps it pinned no matter what! I’m still laughing every time I think of it!
