all rite here was the story. i went to the WA state last year and got two speeding tickets on the way. did not pay for them and the court forward the fine to the local debt collection agencies. the debt collect agencies sent a couple of mails and i chose to ignore them. all rite, now, the debt collection was forwarded to a canadian collection agency in langley and they sent a mail to my house.
here are my questions:
1. does the debt collector has the right to claim the debt across country? i mean the debt was owed in WA and now it is transfered to canada. isn't that just like how you assign your contractual rights?
2. the amount of the debt is something like $300 and i think most likely the company would not waste their time to take it to the small claims court would they? if the canadian company does so, do i have to go to the court? again, that has to do with the debt collection acorss country in my question 1.
3. the letter from the WA driver licencing office indicated that if the fines are not paid upon a certain dead line, my licence would be suspened, i guess they cannot enforce that am I right?
ANY help is appreciated. but please only tell me if you are SURE about it. I need CORRECT answers only. thanks
