Let me introduce myself, I've moved here(Van) with my wife from Saskatoon last August and have always been more of a "car guy", mostly VW.
But, living here now, I can see why I never got the bike bug bite me back in SK, you can ride the for only about... 3 months a year.
Anyway, seems like my wife and me have decided to take the MSC this spring/summer. Neither of us have experience with riding bikes, unless we count some minor scooter time. LOL We're not kids by no means, both in early 30s.
I've been reading and gathering info online and have to admit that it's been a while since I've been on a forum with such a good source of FAQ and info so thumbs up for that.
That said, I don't have the (lower)best back in the world, I hurt it a few years ago and I was wondering what would be the most comfortable bike/seating position? I don't think sitting upright would be very comfortable for me. We like to travel quite a bit and I can definitely see us getting a couple of bikes and going on long road trips. For now, after the MSC course which we hopefully can book for sometime in June, we would get one cheaper bike for this year(like $1k-$2k) to ride around and get some experience. I have been looking on Craiglist but there isn't much right now, not that I'd buy one before the course anyway.
Then I hope we can unload it and get two in the spring of 2009.
I probably have more questions and will add them to the thread but for now, the back one is the only one that had not been answered by the stickies.
As I said, I have not been a "bike guy" until recently but here's a couple of examples of what I like, more of a sport touring thing but I will probably lean towards sport bikes as time moves on.
P.S> Hi to Bjorn.
