0n Sunday April 6th I lost a very dear friend. Bill Mclean former owner of Pacific Yamaha. I had met him when I was just a little kid getting driven to the races by mom. For an expert rider to help out new riders is unheard of these days. But he spent time with me and gave me riding tips.
He became a Canadian National Champion. #1 in motorcross. Represented Canada overseas and in the USA. We travelled together riding the Nationals for many years. With his help I earned 2nd in Canada and many top 5 finishes, When I was injured I was his mechanic. When I was racing he sponsored me, Steve Crevier, his son Brad, Jay Whipple, Brad Hagseth, Just to name a few. His team had won the Nationals and did very good for a shop going against the larger teams. He always helped out everyone. Even when the teams came to town and needed help he would open his shop and call me to help.
Lately he had enjoyed water crafting. And I had the pleasure to be with him racing around the river on one of his boats. We snow skied, sailed, and had many epic rides with our friends.
He fought long and hard battling a horrible disease but through it all he always tried to have fun and was even riding his water craft months ago.
He was a champion, friend, husband, father, and a rider…..a very very good rider.
I am going to miss him…..
