Finally get my bike on the road after a horrid week and a half waiting for a new bloody air filter. I take it out for a nice long ride, nice and easy, The ride went really smooth right till the end, following a car just a biiit to close, he flys over a cattle guard and then slams the breaks right before a railway crossing! I'm forced to hit the brakes over a cattle guard and then right into a ton of gravel. *splat*
100% my fault.
Didn't watch the road conditions clearly enough, didn't give enough space. Maaan am i lucky, I won't forget that lesson any time soon and i could of learned it going alot faster. a whole winter off of driving a car, i guess i got complacent about road conditions. Pretty shitty way to start off a riding seasons eh?
As for the damage. Those ninja 500's are just made of titanium, The front cowling and the right signal lost a little material, and my kickshift was bent like a u . Doesn't matter, some guy with a tire iron (btw this is NOT the guy who slammed the breaks, he drove off) gave my kickshift a good twist, I'll get a piece of wood and a hammer and fix that up later.
This represents my first, honest to goodness, dump.
even going into this season as humbly as I could bear, I still was too cocky.
The front cowling is 650 bucks for a replacement, so my bike now has a battle scar (which to be honest, I somehow like...)
and I'm still going to be a rider, because even AFTER i dumped my bike, i STILL took the long way home
see you on the road!
