Ok so I started planning my vacation for this summer. I'm single and have never taken time off or gone away on my own. I was trying to figure out something that I could do by myself that would be enjoyable and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
So I decided on a road trip.
This is what I'm thinking:
Abbotsford to Clearwater via #1 (stay the night with friends)
Clearwater to Edmonton (stay a night or 2 with family)
Edmonton to Calgary/Banff (splurge on a room somewhere in that area)
Calgary/Banff to Salmon Arm (stay the night with friends)
Salmon Arm to Abbotsford via #3
The round trip would be 2500 km and a limit of about 600km in any one day. I had originally thought about camping along the way, but once I worked out the locations and distances, I figured it would be pointless to drag a tent and sleeping bag along. Also because I would be by myself, I'm never putting myself in a risky situation over night.
Has anyone done a trip like this and is it even worth actually following through with the planning? Thoughts?
I'm also hoping to have a number of "day trips" under my belt before I attempt this. Timing for this trip would probably be August or late July.
