Let me start by saying that I have called BK and they will be handling the repairs, when they can schedule me in. However, between then and now i'd love a little advice/help on diagnosing the problem - it won't start.
The bike: 05 636, w/Yosimura RS-5 exhaust (done at initial purchase), under 10K.
Symptoms: Started with FI light. It turned on on Tuesday, no flash, it just stayed solid red. Had it coded at BK, it flashed code 63 - new exhaust valve actuator (common problem, or so i'm told). The tech's at BK dignosed it, and informed me that the part was not a "vital" part of the system. I could ingore the problem, or grab a new servo unit. That unit is just under $300, plus shop cost. I am more than willing to have the repairs done, but would the failure of that part cause the bike not to start? When I turn the key, with the kill switch on (not in run mode), the bike will hastily initialize, with the lights on the console blinking, and the clock resetting itself. When I filp the switch to run, everything seems normal, and then when I hit the started button the whole bike just dies. I was riding the bike the day before, but when I went to start it in the morning, nothing.
I have checked all fluids (on the advice of the tech's), battery charge, connections, kill switch, throttle, clutch etc...
Diagnosis:???? Could I have a bad plug, starter, stator, another electrical system malfunction? Has anyone had issues like this before?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
