I dont really follow it anymore or care too much until playoffs start, but why did we end up with Cloutier again? Do we have memories that are that short?

For the money he signed at there was no other goalies out there that you could consider an upgrade. They didn't have the cap room to go after a UFA like khabibulin. Over the last 3 years he has been the most consistent goalie in the league during the regular season next to Brodeur. I feel pretty good as a Nuck fan that this year he'll get it done in the playoffs, he definatley has a lot to prove.
As far as hockey goes, I'm totally excited about it and I can't wait.

I'd 'almost' rather have Troy Gamble as a goalie than danny boy.

Don't hurt yourself trying to get back on the bandwagon once playoffs start and the Canucks are plowing through the Conference.

Its only fun being on a bandwagon when everyone else is ... and during the regular season the players put in so little effort anyways, its just not really worth it.

After not playing in the NHL for so long, new rules and with the new look of many teams, it should be pretty fun to watch!

With the new rules, does anyone know how a shootout goal will affect individual scoring stats?

All I can say is.. I cant wait until it all starts!!! And yes indeed out of all the things we could have done, anything but cloutier would have been good, like seriously come on already, the guy licks!!! The only reason he has consistent stats in the regular season is because the team infront of him is good, and not to menton a solid defense (a little questionable now after losing a couple players) but then again thats me. As far as money goes didnt the coyotes just sign cujo for like 900 thousand for one season, or am I wrong?? Cloutier seems a little expensive to me under the cap... alright enough with my cloutier hating but I hope the nucks dont dissapoint this year, and yes Go Bert!! Personlly i think Morrison has developed into all around good player too and probably is going to come out with a bang this year. Anyhow let the games begin.. and Go Canucks Go!!

They signed Cujo for 900K (1.5 Million) with bonuses. Cujo wouldn't have been an upgrade in my opinion, he's on the downswing of a good career but in the end what has he ever won? At least we know what we get with Cloutier, solid numbers that have been improving every year.
There was a goalie who was getting a hard time from the media and fans for the early exists come playoffs. He was a good regular season guy but hadn't proved anything in the post season. The last year there was hockey he had a pretty good year and got really hot in the playoofs. If his team would have given up on them I'm not to sure you would have seen KHABIBULIN or the rest of the Tampa Bay Lightning hoisting the cup.
Go Canucks Go!

cujo sucks! cloutier is unfortunately the lesser of evils... they better hurry up and sign ohlund- talk about underrated, it's unfortunate, he wouldn't be if he were canadian. won't the shootout goals just count as goals scored? i can't wait for october 5!

I agree about Cloutier. What other reasonable choice was there? He just *might* get better! (Now someone find that picture of him looking back at the beachball in the net! )
Also agree about Ohlund. Get the deal done. Please!
I would hope shootout goals would not count for anyone's stats (other than the obvious: shootout shot/scored/saved). It is obviously not the same as scoring/saving during regular play.
If a team wins thanks to the shootout, how will the score be reflected? Win by one goal? Win by all goals scored (including shootout)?
