BCSB History

In 2001, mid-summer, there was a Canadian forum created on a website called SBN or www.sportbikes.net. A few of the British Columbia based riders eventually were able to get together and meet up and go for a few rides. It was a bit of a slow year ride/community wise, but it allowed a few key people to get to know each other. Somewhere in the fall Dalton purchased the domain name for BCSportbikes.com and got together with Jim, Reece and myself to discuss putting together a local site. Somewhere this compeltely fell apart and nothing ever came of it. So I picked up the pieces, and with Jim's help, I worked hard to put together a basic site with a message forum, an area for pictures and such. So BCSportbikes.com was born on Feburary 11th, 2002 and if memory serves correctly, we had about 25-30 members within the first couple of days (most pulled from SBN). Word spread, and now we are exactly where we are at today.

Unexpectedly, the site became a lot more popular than was ever dreamed, and as such, the site needed a real server to run from and real costs started being incurred. As such, BCSB started seeking some sponsors to help out with the costs, and thus the advertising you see above.

At some point I'll likely put online some of the old looks of BCSB to show some of the history, although I do think we are web logged on a couple of the web archive sites. You can also have a look throught he posts on BCSB, as all the original posts are still there, and you can see the grassroot beginnings.
