Okay Guys,

Just got my quote and its going to be $138/month. Thats only $14 dollars more than last year. being monthly, I don't think I'll feel it as bad as if I did it all at once.

So they're dropping off the papers tomorrow and I'm legal again. Can't wait.....:D

BTW: Declared Value: $10,000 All Deducables: $500
Liability : 2,000,000 with full coverage.

I seem to remember Bruce saying that you should only declare the value it would cost you to replace your bike as-is. As apposed to the full purchase cost (Which is what I did for my first year)...

I may drop the declared value to $9,000.......I'm gonna check www.buysell.com right now:D .

that's what i'm doing, when I go in to renew for another 3 months this saturday, gonna bump down the value another grand.... save myself a bit of money, to help offset the rate increase....

Atom, when you got your insurnace, would you be able to post a more detail one, ie. Territory, Class, Total and (Saving) and discount... for reference please.

I remember in SBN, Jim did post a detail list of his insurance, and when I bring all his number to ICBC, the outcome figure was slightly more. Yep, it's the exact number including discount and declare value.
Thanks

do you have a mad discount or something?
i'm paying slightly above 110 with a '92 bike with declared value of $2000, basic coverage (@$200,000) plus collision...no comprehensive no nothing. Plus i got a 10% discount... what's the deal?

I've got a 43% discount and 10 or 11 years safe driving. (knock on wood)

It still works out to $1600/yr.

I think he said he has 43% and roadstar.... that would seem about right for him.

In reality, it is really not that much cheaper in owning a older bike when insuring with ICBC. Hell, even cars in that matter....

Everyone gets ripped with ICBC. There's people on the SBN Board that pay $300 for a years insurance for a Busa....go figure.

I know, it sucks hearing how the Eastern Canadians are paying a fraction of the cost for the same bikes! That extra grand could do a lot of great things, mods, gas, clothes...... :)

i think im the only one that actually likes icbc.
i would get raped even more under private insurance since im 19 with one accident:)

Yeah, I think only us old guys with several claim free years are really getting the shaft. Everyone makes mistakes, young and old, but having the same rates for the accident prone and the safer riders is kind of ridiculous.

OK, here is what I got from ICBC, based on $10k value:

Base My Cost
Basic...................................948 540
$2,000,000 Third Party.......243 127
$500 Collision.....................580 302
$500 Comprehensive........1076 559
New Plates...........................33 33

Total..................................2880 1561

43% dicount: 1224
RoadStar discount: 95

Total: 1319

So depending on what those other places can do for me, I have to pay 573 for basic and a plate, hopefully I can shave a couple hundred off the remainder somewhere else. :)
