I'm putting together an all-day ride for this Saturday. The route will take us into the southern interior, where the weekend forecast is for sunny skies and 25 degrees.

Important note: This ride includes some challenging roads and is for experienced riders only.

Meeting point 1: Flying Swan Coffehouse, 1724 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver. We leave at 9:00 AM; arrive earlier if you want breakfast.

Meeting point 2: 232nd & Highway 1 Chevron station, Langley. We will leave here at 9:45 so you should arrive a bit earlier.

We will take Highway 1 to Hope and continue up the Fraser and Thompson canyons to Spences Bridge. From Spences Bridge, we take highway 8 through the Nicola Valley to Merrit where we will stop for lunch.

From Merritt, we take highway 5A to Princeton.

From Princeton we take highway 3 through Manning Park back to Hope.

From Hope we may take highway 1, highway 7, or Zero avenue back to town.

For those of you who have not ridden on these roads, they are like the Sea-to-Sky, only much better: warmer... drier... little traffic... few police...

What exactly doe this mean?

That you are looking to keep a "spirited pace"? Or that there are lots of twists and turns that may be a bit much for newbie riders?

:)

Good question, I ride at my own pace anyway so I don't really care, as long as I know where we are meeting then I am fine. It is a longer ride, and has lots of twisty sections, maybe he just doesn't like newbie's :D in any event you can ride with me.

Good question.

It means there are lots of twists and turns that may be a bit much for newbies. Highway 8 in particular has some tricky curves.

When we hit the twisties, we should spread out with each of us going at our own pace. This is not supposed to be a parade!

Faster riders can pass when safe and wait up at the next stop.

Slower riders are welcome to come. We will always wait for you to catch up at each stop or turn.
