    23rd Annual MLA Ride

    May is Motorcycle Awareness Month!

23rd Annual BCCOM MLA Ride, May 1, 2014

As the big kickoff to promote May as Motorcycle Awareness Month, on Thursday, May 1, 2014, the British Columbia Coalition of Motorcyclists (BCCOM) is presenting the 23rd Annual MLA Ride.

The MLA Ride is a motorcycle ride to the Legislature Buildings in Victoria to bring MLA’s and their constituents together to discuss various issues relating to motorcycle safety, education and awareness.

The ride leaves at 9:00 am from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, meets up with the island riders at Mayfair Mall on Blanshard Street in Victoria at 11:00 am and then proceeds to the Legislature Buildings to take the MLA’s for a ride on their lunch hour and let them experience firsthand the thrill of motorcycling.

The B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists is a professional lobbying organization that works on behalf of all motorcyclists in the province of BC and has been instrumental in promoting motorcycle safety, education and awareness. The Coalition is a membership driven organization that relies solely on membership support to maintain a strong voice for the motorcycling community.

Some of the accomplishments of the B.C. Coalition of Motorcyclists include getting motorcycles included in HOV lane usage, assured loading on BC Ferries, designated motorcycle parking within various municipalities, getting May proclaimed as motorcycle awareness month.

So do we have to bring an extra helmet for the MLA or is there a supply available on site?

    guess!
Too bad the police have interpreted May is motorcycle awareness month to mean harass and ticket motorcyclists as much as possible month.

I'll take one on the Sportbike.....299 ride so the MLA understands why the police need more money to target sportbikers.

This is like every year I see it, Harley Davidson parade...the thrill of 80km'h with the load ass exhaust rattling your fillings out.

If you have an extra helmet please bring one! Sports bikes are more than welcome! BCCOM is for all motorcyclists not just Harley riders, and the best way to support sport bikes riders, is for you all to attend events like this that try to project motorcycling in a good and positive light!

Please if you can make it out next Thursday do so! Weather is looking good and there is more power in numbers!

    Thanks!

Do you have an estimate of bikes expected?

And, wow, if my understanding of the BC Ferries fare list is correct, if you have a passenger on your bike it's gonna be about $60 each way. Wow.
    $43 by yourself. Wow.

    Hi there,

We are hoping for a good turn out this year from both island and mainland riders. No exact numbers I'm afraid, it is a decision day of event for people we are hoping that because the weather looks so promising that more riders will show up!

Ferries are expensive and its a big turn off for a lot of riders from the mainland, we just hope that with the included BBQ afterwards that more people will make a day of it!

    Thanks!

Hope to see anyone can come there!
