Wanting to service a Subaru idle air control valve but the thing is screwed in with a torn screw. Here's the thing though it's a 5 point and NOT the usual 6 point. Question other than Amazon I can't find them in the web site of princess auto, can tire Or Kms.

    Can anyone help me please.

I bought a lot of torx bits from Canadian Tire a while ago. Had every size imaginable. Dad also got me a kit of rare and random bits recently that has torx bits with a small hole in the middle. Maybe that's what you have/need? Post a pic. I'll see if I can get a photo of the kit I have when I'm home later tonight.

Ok. But it's a five point torx. Looks like a star.

Just cut the head off with a dremel, you could have been finished already.

Checked all my bits - no five point torx to be found. Just about everything else in the world, though.

But like bandito says, you could either cut it out, or use the same dremel to cut a phillips pattern into the bolt and take it out with a phillips screwdriver.

It's obviously serving it's purpose as a tamperproof screw. LOL.

    Google 5 point driver.

In town, try computer or electronics stores. It's not uncommon for hard drives or other electronic pieces. But I bet online will be the winner.

Or, use the right size flat-bladed driver.

Tamper proof is how the dealerships make money I guess.

I know how to take them out. Dealt with so many of them. If they are security torx, nothing like a center punch and hammer to knock it out. You can buy the bits from ncix I believe. They will know someone if they don't sell them. Canadian tire is mastercraft, have no clue why they don't. I think its because its patent and only a few companies make them to sell to public. Wouldn't be called security torx if everyone sold them everywhere.

Could you post a picture? It sounds like a total bastard specialty tool only available to that company.

Tamper proof can mean it has a pin in it, which is the type that can be knocked out as 125cbr rider says. But this is 5-point, could be described at security or just rare. Maybe it's a pentalobe, in which case Canadian tire may have it in an electronic set.

    Kerunt,

    Thank you.

Amazon has them. I'll just get a set. It says it's for German cars so maybe some day I can also get me a German vehicle
