Well gasoline has a fixed amount of energy, so it's power is always going to scale with CC.

related/unrelated, heres a fantastic performance summary from an Italian shootout thats happening.

I wish we had tracks on the Island. Instead of paying $125 a month for liability and put up with traffic, roads, dash cams equipped police cars, drama.. Not a cheap sport but still the best thing to do on this silly planet!

All I see there is the lowly 3 year old plain-jane Suzuki (while pushing 14 more pounds) accelerates from 0-200kph in the exact same time as the latest greatest, almost twice the cost S1000RR and faster than all the others which are also over twice the cost in some cases.

As for the SD1290 - great bike but totally different animal than the ones bandied about in this thread so far.

My buddy s selling his '14 here in Vic and it's solid, and my other pal has the new model '18 and I put a few miles on it a couple weeks ago - awesome bike, windblast sucks though and from 160+ it's a dog when compared to these literbikes - accelerates almost exactly like my old 675R Triumph from 160-240kph - quick but not arm-stretching. Plus, I am not a fan of the vague front end feel of these hyper nakeds personally but overall the ergo package is great up to 120kph and the boingers are nice and plush - great for our bumpy Island roads.

    Practically speaking:

First Service was just done on both:

    - my '17 Gix1000 - $220
    - pals '18 1290 $540 plus $500 to unlock the KTM track pack which is standard on the $11,499 790 Duke but $500 more on the $19,499 1290 - WTF KTM? Sheisters.

i think the best thing about the sd is the 'normal' gearing they kept in it... not the newer kind of liter bike stuff..

What I pull from the comparisons of the two is that the Panigale demands more of your attention, which means less attention for the road. That alone makes the rsv411 the better bike imo. Not that I could afford either one...

too bad its looking ridiculously dated by now.. I had sincerely hoped they'd do something to brighten it up a bit for the masses.

when it 1st came out, it was oh la la, APRILIA! in bold letters and Italics! 10 FVCKING years later.? not so much, who needs wings FFS.

There's a difference between dated (looking old) and aged (having not changed).

I think in both cases the RSV4 is not dated and has aged well, still looking like one of the best looking superbikes out there.

it looks 'virtually' the exact same as it did when it 1st came out.. 10 years ago.

it looks 'dated' to circa 2009.. thats literally the definition of something that looks 'dated'.. end result, it looks 'OLD'..

even the BMWS1kRR and the R1 have been 'visually' updated over that exact same time period.

it has 'aged well' because of Carbon fiber, Bold New Graphics, and wings.. the latter could be attributed to RED BULL energy drink cans.

Red-Bull (or Krating Daeng) itself was created in 1987, also dated as fvck
