Dakar 2020 - moving to Saudi Arabia

Originally known as the Paris-Dakar Rally the event rallied a 10,000km route from Paris France to Dakar Senegal.

Held ~30 years from Europe to Africa
Then ~10 years in South America
Now a new era in the Middle East.
Wonder why they move the race they never changed the name from... Dakar

The move to South America was because of security concerns in Africa, I heard. Yup, this new move is about cash and not about good routes. Who wants to run in sand all day?

They should do a little dogleg through yemen. *The drone stage.

This makes more sense than South America. *It’s not ‘all sand’, and it’s logistically way easier for European competitors. *

Saudi, eh? so female riders now have permission to ride? but will get stoned by the more conservative mullahs as they pass by?
In preparing for battle, I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensible.

Good point. *What about the LGBTQ competitors and crews. *Alrite, maybe not such a good idea.*
