    Dear Shervin of the North,

Glad to hear you have tuned your Raider S to unlock it's full potential. Money well spent.

    Signed,

Mr. Scooterboost, who has just unleashed a Gio Electric scooter so it now exceeds pedestrian pace.

I'm always impressed with a lengthy diatribe but even more so when it's interspersed with random words that have been capitalized.

thats a cheap shot, even for you. I dont even run a big air kit on mine, let alone holes in the frame. Stock air-box is good enough.
If it makes you feel any better i no longer need a laptop on the road.

DJ Research came up with an app a few years back.. i actually started running 92 octane on the re-flash V.2!
I did a quick little re-tune yesterday and it worked wonders. Takes seconds to accept a PCV map w/ new Trims now.

since all the recent posts regarding the SX specifically, i decided to do a little more digging.

my earlier statements of throttle opening vs actual butterfly operation via fly-by-wire were a little generous.

when they hacked the H2 ecu they found a setting which limited it to 30%, meaning you crack it open and the most you'll get is 30%.

it appears the same setting is found on the H2-SX.. except it has 13 written in it from the factory. Its one of the restrictions they remove.
edit: not entirely remove per-se.. i've heard it may be gear dependent, considerations of a 75% in its place were mentioned i believe.

the oem setting must be what they mean by 'tuned for more mid-range, street ride-ability'?

OP, please dont put much weight to my little ranting, i have no horse in the race when it comes to others' bikes.
Everybody has different expectations, needs. Do what makes you happy. I honestly think you already have 'braggin rights'.

I heard somewhere that Ivan has a flash tune for the bike that mitigates the lag or something. You still need a display on the dash to datalog and tune on the fly-though; the more I read, the more confused I get.

    Nice ride, Frank, congratulations.

I was curious why you checked out the R1250RS but not the S1000XR. Then I re-read your post. Really interesting assessment you had of the GW 'bagger'.
Work sucks -- let's go riding!

Ok, so I'm not the only one who was wondering how a Gold Wing got on the short list.

This all started from a conversation we had on our most recent trip to WA,OR, and ID about comfier yet still capable sport touring bike alternatives. Coincidentally, a friendly couple we met in John Day tried playing cuck games with Frank and I and invited us to sample the GoldWing (and his wife). Like the thrill of riding a SS bike at pace, the sensations of pleasure derived from the humiliation of others (and yourself) is intoxicating. All you dudes just don't know yet, this place will soon be BCAB:BC Adventurebaggers - purveyors of the bag and swap lifestyle.

I'm not so confident in my skills that I could humiliate any decent rider while trying to hustle a 800lb+ bike along with relative safety and consistency.

Maybe you boys bring more MotoGP skills to the party but humiliating anyone with half a clue would be a tall order on a Wing IM-Humble-O.

No rhyme or reason to it.............the reviews on the re-designed Goldwing were so over the top positive, that I just had to take a close look, find one to ride, and dispell all the claims of power, handling, and comfort from owners still in their honeymoon phase. I mean if you put a Honda ST next to it, the Goldwing is small. The dash, the lights, the "comfort", and the torque were all what attracted me to it.

yeah i'm just not following the thought process on that statement either.

not that i meant anything with my own post, its just an odd bike in this particular short list.

my cousin likes them, i do not. thats about as far as the conversation goes..

the Big Goldwing with the way the engine sits, is just too damn uncomfortable for me.
i've sat on one a few times and ive never felt a need for a test ride. Now, if they throw
in a hot trophy wife, thats another story.
