    Rider Down (Orangemirage)

I would just like to let everyone know that last sunday night (on the long weekend) Travis, orangemirage, was riding down Homer St. downtown around 11:30pm when he went down.

His bike turned on its side causing the left foot peg to go RIGHT through left his calf (leaving two big 4 inch holes). Because he was attached to his bike like this he ended up being dragged under it for 70 feet. It must have been awful to be awake and aware during this whole thing. He says he could just feel the asphalt and everything burning at his leg. He was pinned under it until a nearby cop came by and lifted it off, causing the peg to slice back through his leg again.
He is currently in the hospital but he will be getting out tomorrow.

He is fine, if you can call it fine, he had to endure two surgeries, a few skin graphs, tons of stitches - too many to count - to fix the 2 holes and to top it off he has a compound fracture to his fibula. Not to mention alot of pain. But morophine will be his new best friend for a while I am sure.
I asked him what his leg looks like and the only comparison he could think of was "it looks like someone ran it over with the lawn mower"
According to the estimated there is $4000 damage, and a big piece of flesh on the foot peg.

This experience, and another one a few years ago resulting in Travis getting a few pins in his shoulder, has made him decide that he is no longer going to ride. He is going to fix up his bike because he put so much effort, time, and love into it he hates to see it sit in his driveway all destroyed and then sell it.

I just thought everyone should know that one of our guys went down. I am sure he will still come on here to chat to everyone but as far as his riding days go.. they are done. I am just glad that he is alright, he was very very lucky. Love you baby, get better soon.

    Ride safe guys
