Motorcycle Online sez this thing is coming stateside for 2007. Its got a detuned 1000RR engine, but check out what MO said the did to it...

"The engine choice is a bit bizarre to say the least. From the 174 claimed hp in the RR, the unit has been detuned to... 96 hp in the CBF1000. That means a good 78 HP have been chopped for "better midrange response". I can't think of a reason as to why Honda would decide to use this engine when they already had good torque producers in the shape of the previous 954 Fireblade mill or the 1100 motor of the Super Blackbird. Why they used a power unit with a relatively extreme bore and stroke ratio is beyond me. Maybe this is paving the road for
the new 1000 version of the 919, a bike that will surely come pretty soon."

I guess they need a bike to compete with the FZ-1, SV1000 and Z-1000, but why use only 96hp when the others crank out at least 20 more ponies?

You won't see it on this side of the pond anyway. In Europe the motorcycle as a real means of transportation not as a hobby like we do here.

I guess we'll see if MO is right or not at the show in January.

I like the fairing. It's the tail that I think sucks big time. The absolute ONLY thing good you can say about the lame grab handles is that they sort of make a sort of luggage rack. Otherwise they look STUPID! ! ! ! !

And this is the second time Honda has totally missed the mark in detuning an engine to supposedly get some more mid range. What a lark and how sad. The last time they flopped with the CB1000 the bike was only here for one model year as I recall. In their mindless quest for mid range power they totally neutered the bike and as a result a promising bike flopped like a fish out of water. Looks like they are setting up to flop again.

It's clear that this style of bike, including the models already mentioned, are a popular style. Older sportbikers not ready for the Wing. :)

I'd also include the new Triumph Tiger. Wide motocross style of handlebars on these upright bikes are a blast to ride and so easy to steer / countersteer.

The anemic power output (compared to) is typical Honda.

MO also noted the non adjust front suspenders, cheap brakes, and check the rear swinger......looks like it came off my old '87 600 Hurricane!

I heard a rumour that there was to be a bike to fill the gap left by eliminating the 599 and 600F4i. This would look to have 599-ish ergos with close to F4i power.

I'm not saying I think that's a good thing...

I kind of like it....
I like it too. But if I'm gonna pay litrebike insurance prices, I want litrebike powah. As in, maybe I'll stick with my dream of a CBR one day. For now I'll keep posin' on the CBF's little twin cousin the SV650S.

Can anyone out there suggest a supersport bike that's comfortable for passengers too? (Besides the 'busa)
