So a while ago I remember there was an effort to change the BC lanesplitting laws. I was just wondering what ever came of that. Also... is it becoming fairly common practice? Do the cops still care or no?

Just wondering....

Funny this should come up today.
I'm ridding hwy 1 E. and 2 bone heads do it past me in the HOV and tween the car in front and beside. 2nd guy is all wobbly right tween the cars.
I looked down and we were goin about a buck ten anyway. This is before Gaglardi.
I get to the Cape horn goin over to Lougheed and they are stopped on the shoulder in all that gravel and crap trying to BACK UP the off ramp cause they passed the exit to Mary hill E.
Cool moves in my book.
Besides you can just go around and get right on to United.
They saved all of 2 seconds and then play Russian Roulette backing up on a curve on the freeway off ramp.

Yeah those guy's sounds like idiots...

But in a traffic jam, it can save SO MUCH time.

When I was in California, and all I can say is it's nice not having to sit in 35-40 degree celsius weather all day long.

its funny this comes out now because when I started riding I was all like "lane splitting is irresponsible" and now I do it so often I think I deserve to get hit…unlike those guys described I only lane split when the traffic is stopped or moving like 5-10 kph in bumper to bumper traffic jam

Holy shit Marco! Where the fuck did you come from?
Ya know it isn't too hard to find me. Ya I was just wondering how the whole "movement" was doing to get that law flipped. Maybe if you guys got your stuff together out there it could give us inroads over here. There is NO WAY we'll be the first ones in Canada to legalize lane splitting.... too many anal retentive folks in office. We need you guys to do it WEST COAST style. While you're at it get Washington and Oregon to follow suit too.

Anyhoo - one cool thing that happened here that you guys might want to know about is that we can now park for free on the street parking spots and up to 3 bikes can park in one spot. Also, scooters are allowed to park on sidewalks.... where bicycle parking is allowed.

Anyhoo - hope things are going well dude. BTW, let me know if you want an SV1000S... mine is for sale. I can't justify paying for insurance and not riding on the street. I'm trying to get a dedicated track bike.

For what it's worth, you can lanesplit legally, provided you follow the rules in the MVA. You must pass on the left side of the vehicle in front of you, and you must do it within the lane. So if there's room between the car and the line that divides the lane you're in from the one to your left (or your lane from the oncoming traffic, or your lane from the left shoulder, whatever) then you can legally pass the vehicle in front of you.

Shoulder on right is a no-no. Shoulder on left on Highway 1 is a grey area ripe for someone to dispute in court.
